OBSERVE THE MOON NIGHT

Arizona State University’s School of Earth and Space Exploration will join the Fountain Hills Dark Sky Association and the International Dark Sky Discovery Center is hosting a public “International Observe the Moon” evening on Saturday, October 1 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, weather permitting. The event will be held in Centennial Plaza next to the Fountain Hills Community Center.  The sponsors will provide telescopes for viewing the Moon’s craters, planets Saturn and Jupiter, and other astronomical objects, along with educational materials about our Solar System.  Residents are also welcome to bring their own telescopes to share views with the public.

International Observe the Moon evening is sponsored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to encourage observation and understanding of the moon and its relationship to Earth and our Solar System. Annual worldwide participation averages over 500 events in 40 countries. Please join us for this informative and visually stunning event!
